This movie will be a classic; the viewer sees the gradual deterioration of Nina's mental health due to her perfectionism, probably driven by her mother's inferiority complex; her ballet instructor drives her to the brink-never letting up on her, making certain that she feels the heat of Lily's competitive breath on her neck. This, combined with the high standards that Nina has set for herself already, leads to a horrible to watch spiral to hell that one cannot take one's eyes away from. Natalie Portman spent a year learning ballet before taking this role and she does a beautiful job as a prima ballerina. Just an excellent movie even if one isn't into ballet, the girl on girl scenes will h

Portman was excellent but movie did not live up to the hype created. Took forever for anything to happen and, in the end, a real letdown. I don't understand all the raves.

One of the greatest movies of the year. Filed with suspense and drama... leaves the viewer wondering.. what is real?

Nina's words at the end of the film sum it up, "Perfect". The use of black and white (with no grays), and the metamorphosis of a peachy keen girl to a "Black Swan" is brilliant. Take note also of the flowers and the color of her clothing (and the name of her dark side). A must see. (Does have foul language and a few non-desrcript, but not gratuitous sex scenes)
